Acquired Brain Injury Adult Day Program. Description: Persons who have sustained a severe acquired brain injury (ABI) may experience social isolation and place significant burden on family members due to impairments and challenging behaviours that prevent survivors from living independently. COTA Health, a key program partner, provides program development and case management services. Referrals come through the Toronto ABI Network. The program also gives support to caregivers. This includes linking caregivers to community services, education on managing challenging behaviours, and availability of one respite bed for client overnight stays to give caregivers time to recharge. The ABI Adult Day Program operates 5 days per week from 1. Each client attends 1- 2 days per week for about six months. Participants bring their lunch, and the program provides light snacks. Program activities support participants. Groups address issues that challenge ABI clients and their families.
